The podact i listened to is taken from the 'how stuff works' website. The topic dicsussed is whether the dog is truly man's (or woman) best friend or not? the host told a story about a dog whose owner passed away and never made it home. The dog however kept waiting for its owner, obviously not realizing that its owner will never come back. This shows the dogs longing for a human companion. However, many attempts to try and adopt the dog failed for the dog would come back to its original owner's place. Apparently the dog never got over its lost. From such and similar stories some scientists therefore dare to conclude that dogs actually have 'secondary emotions' such as shame, pride and jealousy. Personally I was not quite convinced with the theory that dogs acually share identical feelings to that of a human, rather a dog like any other animal act the way they do out of sheer instinct.
