I thought of a unit involving movie maker and I am realy excited because I want to use it already in my 8th grade.
I teach a very weak 8th grade. Some of the pupils are non readers and we work on elementary school's vocabulary. We work with the book Up Grade. Now we are learning a unit about free time. I asked the pupils to fill in the missing blanks in a passage about themselves and what they like doing in their free time (e.g.: My name is _______ and I live in _________. I am _____ years old. In my free time I like________ and_________. My brother's hobby is _______, and my sister likes_________ etc). I want them to know the passage by heart. I can use the movie maker as a tool to mark them. Instead of testing each student separately during class work, I can ask them to film themselves saying the passage and add photos from their daily routine. They will like it much better and they will be able to film themselves as many times as they need till they are pleased with the product. Sharing the movies can be a nice closure for the unit.
In the unit:
*Vocabulary about free time activities (listening to music, playing the computer, etc)
*A conversation between two girls on the phone talking about what they are doing in their after noon- listening comprehension.
*Reading a letter from a boy to his friend describing the fun things he did during the summer vacation- access to information.
*Write a passage about yourself and what you do on your free time
*Make a movie about yourself
*Present it to the class.

Dear Tirtza,
השבמחקYour unit plan sounds really exiting:
The topic is relevant to the pupils' lives, the activities relate to the different domains, the level is appropriate to weak learners and doesn't make them feel that you treat them like babies.
I like it a lot, Yael:)
